This year, diaper banks across the U.S. have faced some of our greatest challenges yet. Since our last conference, NDBN members have continued to do disaster response and some are now supporting long term recovery efforts. The government shutdown furloughed federal employees, creating new situational diaper need in many communities.  There has also been increased discussion about populations on the move. While immigrants and refugees appeared in national news stories about border security, some NDBN members helped welcome new residents through refugee resettlement programs, and many diaper bank leaders found it necessary to help protect populations who called their state home.
